The Installio team has just fitted a heat pump in a 4 bed detached house, in Chelmsford, Essex. The customer wanted to get rid of their gas boiler and move to a modern heating system. A heat pump means a low carbon home that is cheaper to heat.

Summary

Heat pump model: Ideal Logic Air 8kW

Hot water cylinder: Ideal Logic Air 250L Cylinder

Design flow temperature: 47°C

Technical specification

Our team designed a heat pump-powered heating system bespoke to the customers’ home. We undertook a detailed survey of the home, including the existing heating system and how it was constructed. It allowed us to calculate how well it retains heat and what type of heat pump would be needed to keep them warm on the coldest of winter days.

The team retrofitted the heat pump to the home’s existing heating system. That means installing new components to the existing pipework and keeping the radiators where possible. Upgraded radiators are added to make sure the heat pump runs really efficiently, while guaranteeing the home will still be warm in the depths of winter.

An unvented 200L cylinder will provide the customer with a generous supply of hot water at a consistent high pressure. Unvented cylinders are used with heat pumps because they store water efficiently This cylinder is specifically designed to work with a heat pump. A larger heating coil allows heat exchange to work really well at lower temperatures. Hot water will produced at 300%+ efficiency.

Installation

Gavin, Rhys and Tom completed the job in 4 days.

“Had a really positive install experience; really professional team and very conscious of cleaning up after completing work. Also worked on the hottest week of the year and kept up the quality of install throughout.”
